Menuntut ilmu agama merupakan suatu keharusan bagi setiap muslim. Sebab bagaimana mungkin seseorang dapat melaksanakan kewajiban agamanya jika tidak dilandasi dengan pengetahuan tentangnya. Seorang yang telah mampu untuk melaksanakan ibadah haji harus mempelajari manasik haji sebelum melakukannya, agar hajinya benar. Seorang hartawan harus mempelajari hukum zakat agar dia tidak salah di dalam mengeluarkan zakat harta maupun perniagaannya.
Mempelajari ilmu agama secara rinci, yang melebihi kebutuhan pribadi seseorang di atas, memang bukan kewajiban setiap muslim. Namun demikian orang yang melakukannya mendapatkan keistimewaan yang luar biasa di sisi Allah ‘Azza wa jalla. Berbagai pujian dan janji balasan istimewa di dunia dan akherat Allah berikan kepada orang-orang yang berilmu (ulama) dan para penuntut ilmu. Karena kerelaan mereka meluangkan waktu untuk kepentingan agama dan kaum muslimin di saat orang lain sibuk dengan urusan duniawi dan pribadi mereka. Juga karena melalui perjuangan keras mereka agama ini terjaga dari berbagai penyimpangan. Mereka ibarat pelita yang terang di tengah gelap gulita dan oase di tengah padang tandus.
Karenanya, menuntut ilmu merupakan bagian dari jihad ( berjuang di jalan Allah). Dan orang yang melakukannya oleh Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam di sebut sebagai pewaris para nabi.
Seseorang yang menginginkan kesuksesan di dalam menuntut ilmu agama tidak dapat melakukannya begitu saja, namun harus mengikuti petunjuk dan bimbingan yang dianjurkan para ulama. Jika anda telah mengambil keputusan untuk menuntut ilmu agama, maka pastikan untuk membaca dan menelaah buku yang sarat dengan petunjuk dan bimbingan berharga ini agar upaya anda mendapatkan kesuksesan dan ridha ilahi.
